SNCR are 40 volunteers supporting East Midlands Ambulance Service by providing emergency medical care across South and West Northants. All give their time freely and the scheme receives no external funding. We seek to cover our overheads by providing event medical cover and from donations.

The NHS and Ambulance Service face increasing demands upon their services as the local population increases. We are allocated by EMAS to attend medical emergencies, and can arrive before ambulance crew particularly in rural communities. SNCR provides emergency care, stabilizing and treating patients until the ambulance crew arrives. We also provide CPR training in these communities.

We attend patients from 1 day old, and with a few category exceptions attend calls arising from 999/111 and the Goodsam app. The Goodsam app is a 24/7 alert to responders phones when there is a nearby threat to life emergency. We do attend cardiac arrests, where the survival rate of a patient diminishes by 10% for every minute that CPR is not performed. We also provide CPR training in these communities to improve public confidence in dealing with a cardiac arrest.
