We are raising money to provide sustainable period products to people who experience period poverty, meaning they can't access period products due to cost or stigma. Period Friendly Places secured donations of products from corporate and other big businesses and distributes them in areas of need.

Research in 2023 found that the number of UK women and people who menstruate who are struggling to afford period products has risen from 12% to 21%. Shockingly, more than two in five women/girls in Bristol (41.2%) have been affected, significantly more than the national average, and 40% of school girls in Bristol have missed school due to period poverty. Furthermore, 22% of women and people who menstruate aged 18-24 in the UK today feel embarrassed during their period, up from 8% in 2022.
We solve this problem through providing period products to community venues in more disadvantaged areas for anyone that needs. We receive donations from corporate business and supermarkets, and we buy from wholesalers. More recently we have focussed on securing sustainable product including period pants and menstrual cups. With we plan to hold awareness-raising community events with a nurse in our next distribution phase to support uptake for a longer term, environmentally sustainable solution.
