We are equipping impoverished communities in an isolated corner of Mozambique with financial skills to build lifelong security. With your support we can strengthen new & existing savings groups, led by local women, men and youth to transform temporary cash into nutrition, health, and secure futures.

Mozambique ranks 182 on the UN HDI and the target villages are located in remote areas with the highest levels of poverty in the country (UNDP Poverty Index 2023). A new mangrove-planting project has provided rare cash income. However, the community lacks the financial literacy required to reap lasting benefits. Without these skills, income is spent on immediate needs rather than long-term security. Additional training and support for communities is required to break the cycle of subsistence.
We will scale our proven savings and credit group model by hiring a dedicated Livelihoods Coordinator. This new capacity will provide focussed financial management training and business mentorship promoting local investment of mangrove-planting earnings into sustainable income-generating assets like farming and/or fishing equipment, seeds and agricultural tools, thereby ensuring money ripples through the local economy, whilst also providing health and other benefits for the local community.
