We work with Kalwande Vocational College (KVC) in northern Tanzania. We provide free two-week residential intensive training courses to people with few qualifications. This project will fund places for 35 students in electrical supply installation and maintenance and equip graduates for paid work.

Many young people in the region leave school with no qualifications or vocational skills. This makes it hard for them to support themselves and their families. The continued improvement of electricity infrastructure and increased reliance on electricity supply and electrical goods means there is a shortage of properly trained technicains to install and maintain electrical systems. Training new entrants in an in-demand skill boosts employment propsects and strengthens rural communities.
We have worked successfully with Kalwande in the past and have a strong reputation throughout the region for providing good quality vocational training. By providing funding for 35 training places we will be giving young people an opportunity to develop skills that are in demand in their communities. Many of these young people come from very disadvantaged backgrounds and need a helping hand to get training that they would not otherwise be able to afford to access.
