When asylum seekers arrive in Glasgow fleeing persecution, they face isolation, loneliness, language barriers and uncertainty about the future. Many have experienced trauma in their country, during their journey, and within the asylum process itself. They arrive knowing nobody, struggling with mental health, insecure housing, digital exclusion, and discrimination. People, predominantly families, are placed within shared rooms in Initial Accommodation and struggle to meet their daily needs.

Our weekly drop-in sessions at the Initial Accommodation Centre in Glasgow provide a warm welcome and practical and emotional support. We offer emergency shopping vouchers, information about housing rights and services, advocacy, and support in community languages. We connect people to ESOL classes, befriending and wellbeing activities to support their integration and reduce isolation.
