For 15 years The Principle Trust Children’s Charity has supported children facing adverse childhood experiences. We're raising £15,000 to support 25 children (and their families) to access a week-long respite break, and to celebrate 15 years of happiness, joy and lasting memories.

We support local children experiencing adverse childhood experiences, including trauma, abuse, mental ill health, serious or life-limiting illness, crime and poverty. Many of our families report sustained stress, burnout and worsening mental health, with limited access to respite support. Over the past 12 months, feedback from families and regional service providers has consistently identified a significant unmet need for preventative respite to reduce the local mental health crisis.
We provide free respite breaks for children facing adversity and their families, delivered through trusted referral partners such as Mind, IDAS and local disability services. Feedback shows our breaks lead to measurable improvements, including a 34% increase in mental wellbeing, 33% reduction in isolation and 30% improved ability to cope. Through our respite breaks, we strengthen family relationships, support positive improvements in wellbeing and enable families to make lifelong happy memories.
