There is a growing community of disabled children who experience complex barriers to access. These families experience social isolation, lack of suitable creative activities, and financial barriers. “My child has a profound learning disability, and it is very hard to find experiences that are meaningful to her.” (parent, 2025). Our work is also designed for babies, responding to research demonstrating the first 1,001 days of development are critical for lifelong emotional and physical wellbeing.

We offer a range of accessible formats to increase choice and access for families. If children can’t come to the theatre, we will go to them with an At Home show. If families need more flexible times to engage, we provide durational play experiences. We make experiences that can work for ALL families in different ways. We do this by deeply considering not just physical, but cognitive and creative access. Oily Cart families feed into every show, which makes families feel valued and connected.
