DADLG offers subsidised after-school clubs and holiday actvities to children and young people with disabilities and their families in County Durham. Our primary aims are to reduce the barriers families face to participation, build confidence, reduce social isolation and support family wellbeing.

Families with a disabled child or young person face a range of barriers to participation in everyday activities other families take for granted. Many families avoid organising activities or trying new things for fear of judgement from others, lower household income or because they already have so much extra responsibility to contend with. This limits their experiences, damages confidence and leads to social isolation, exacerbating already challenging circumstances and impacting the whole family.
DADLG was established to reduce these barriers. For 35 years, we have provided a supportive community where "can’t" is replaced with "how." We offer a comprehensive range of subsidised weekly term-time clubs, holiday activities, and excursions—from SEND-adapted boxing to trips to the Wildlife Park. In our sessions, children develop physical skills and confidence in a safe, nurturing environment, while parents find a rare moment of respite with other parents that understand their challenges.
