Based in East Sussex, the Children’s Respite Trust provides respite care for local children aged 2 to 18 with additional needs, and supports the whole family. We run a nursery, breakfast and after school clubs, extensive holiday clubs, a siblings group and family events in the school holidays.

Children with disabilities are lonelier and are often excluded from activities that others take for granted. For their families, getting a break is essential. Parents are exhausted from round-the-clock care, and are at risk of mental health issues, relationship breakdown and poverty caused by giving up work. Siblings may feel lonely and anxious. Only 20% of parents of disabled children feel they get enough support for their child to fulfil their potential (Disabled Children's Partnership 2023).
Our respite care gives families a break, whilst opening up new worlds for children with disabilities. We offer: • Term-time nursery for 2-4-olds: Mon 9am-2:15pm, Tues 9am-3pm, Wed 9am-3pm • School holiday clubs for 2-18-year-olds: Mon-Fri, 9am-3:30pm • Term-time breakfast and after-school-clubs for 5-18-year-olds: Mon-Fri, 7:30-9am and 3-6pm • Siblings clubs: monthly for 7-18-year-olds (3 hrs+) • Magical family events – Easter, Summer and Christmas • Year-round support, information and advocacy
