In Bwaise, Kampala, girls and young women face intersecting challenges including violence, stigma, food insecurity and limited access to safe, paid employment. Those escaping abuse are often excluded from school, work and community support networks, increasing the risk of isolation, exploitation and long-term poverty for them and their families.
Garden of Eden is a youth-led urban farm already providing food and income for local young people. With your support, Awamu will expand the project and connect it directly to our shelter and survivor support services. Girls recovering from violence will access safe, therapeutic work alongside mentoring and counselling, while skills, confidence and community connections are rebuilt.
