We want to be there for children who are struggling to cope, giving them the right help at the right time to improve their mental health. This funding will mean we can offer up to 25 children from low-income families rapid access to free weekly counselling with an experienced children’s counsellor.

1 in 6 UK children are living with poor mental health – that’s five children in every school classroom. Trafford alone has over 3800 young people and families seeking support for mental health illness. As pressure grows on health services, many children can’t get the help they need: 1 in 3 children referred to the NHS are not accepted for treatment. It is vital that these children have timely access to the help they need to build resilience and to find healthier ways to cope, connect and thrive.

We will offer local children and teenagers rapid access to weekly 1:1 counselling with an experienced children’s counsellor. Funding will enable us to offer 10 free-to-access in-person or online children’s counselling appointments each week. Our team of counsellors can offer support in Urdu, Punjabi, and Arabic and are trained in working with trauma, neurodivergence and diverse sexualities. Free sessions will be reserved for children from low-income households.
