Cogwheel Counselling is a Cambridge based charity which for 38 years has provided affordable counselling to adults, children and young people. Support is required to help provide reduced cost counselling for those most in need and to increase counselling capacity for children/young people.

The current mental health landscape is marked by increasing rates of mental health issues impacting all ages particularly children/young people and unfortunately capacity in the NHS is extremely stretched and long waiting lists exist. Many are forced to look elsewhere for support and with the cost private counselling prohibitive there are few options available. This leaves a large group of adults and children whose mental health needs are not met and therefore at risk of further degradation.
Cogwheel is seeking to help meet a demand for its children/young people (CYP) service by extending it's service to include Mondays by employing an additional counsellor.When a CYP counselling need arises it is beneficial to respond at the time the need is expressed when the level of engagement is at it's highest. Secondly Cogwheel is keen to increase the number of reduced cost counselling sessions for those on benefit or low incomes especially for those CYP parents whose finances are stretched
