Tongue cancer is increasingly affecting younger adults, yet support systems, clinical information and services are largely designed for older patients. Younger people are frequently misdiagnosed, experience delayed referrals, and face profound isolation during and after treatment. Many report that existing cancer support spaces do not reflect their age, life stage, responsibilities or long-term quality-of-life concerns. Many people face this life-altering diagnosis without relevant peer support.
We addresses this gap by delivering patient-led, age-appropriate support shaped by lived experience. We run moderated peer support groups for patients and carers, host monthly virtual and in-person meet-ups, produce trusted resources reviewed by clinicians, and work with healthcare professionals and researchers to ensure younger patients’ needs are recognised. Our work helps people feel less alone, better informed and more supported throughout diagnosis, treatment and life beyond cancer.
