Across Kenya, Uganda and Gabon, people and elephants are being pushed into the same contested landscapes. Crop raids and property damage threaten livelihoods and safety, while retaliation escalates elephant deaths. At the same time, shrinking habitat and weakened protection- fences, corridors and management capacity—disrupt elephant movement and increase risk for both people and wildlife.
Space for Giants delivers practical, frontline solutions that protect people and keep elephants moving safely. We strengthen coexistence by improving prevention, early-warning and rapid response; supporting communities to reduce risk; and securing key habitats and movement routes through better protection and partnerships with government and local stakeholders—so elephants stay wild and communities stay safe.
