Girls face severe barriers to completing their education; 95% lack menstrual materials, missing up to 3 school days monthly. Malawi has a 93% primary attendance but only 33% completion. A shortage of 74,000 classrooms results in a 104:1 pupil-to-classroom ratio, forcing 22% of Standard 1 learners (aged 4-6)to learn outdoors. 91.8% of Standard 1 students cannot read a single word. Diseases such as cholera further disrupt learning, deepening the crisis for the most vulnerable.

We have researched the areas where we can make most impact and best complement the Malawi Ministry of Education's work. These areas are: 1) WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) 2) Literacy/numeracy 3) School infrastructure. Within the WASH category, we have identified a vital project which will help over 1,000 girls to avoid missing school each month when they have their periods. We source, fund and monitor projects which are identified by Malawian communities and implemented by our carefully selected NGO partners in Malawi. We specialise in education projects for children of primary and secondary school-ages.
