Oxford’s residents are widely thought to be well educated and relatively wealthy on average, but the city has a serious homelessness problem arising primarily from the high cost of housing. Oxford is amongst the worst 10 towns within the UK for the number of rough sleepers vs total population size, and households accessing homeless support have increased by 128% in the last 3 years. It is also unfortunately true that on average half a dozen rough sleepers die on Oxford’s streets every winter.
Drop-in services provide basic, immediate support that helps to ensure short term survival (e.g. food, clothes, toiletries, sleeping bags, and shower services). Additionally they encourage personal development and aid guests on their personal journey, transitioning back into permanent housing and employment. Lastly they act as a gateway for guests to access our other services providing bespoke, individual support including additional training and opportunities for personal development.
