Holding On Letting Go (HOLG) supports bereaved children, young people, and their families across Kent and South East London after the death of a loved one, or following a terminal diagnosis. Since 1998 we have helped bereaved families in our community navigate grief with compassion, care and hope.

Bereavement is a universal experience, yet access to specialist support for bereaved children and young people often feels like a postcode lottery. Many families face long waits or no provision at all. Without timely support, unresolved grief can impact mental health, education, relationships and future wellbeing. HOLG was founded 28 years ago to address this gap in bereavement care, ensuring children and young people receive the support and understanding they need while they process their grief

HOLG addresses gaps in bereavement support by delivering bespoke, age-appropriate services tailored to individual need. Each year, we support around 300 young people through group programmes, 1-to-1 sessions and pre-bereavement support. Our work creates safe spaces for children to express themselves, learn healthy coping strategies, and connect with peers who understand their experience, reducing isolation. On average, £350 provides meaningful, therapeutic support to one bereaved child.
