Young people feel increasing levels of anxiety about climate change and inequalities and need to channel these feelings in positive ways. Enabling them to share ideas with other young people, and find creative expression for their ideas through group projects, provides a positive and empowering way to respond to the problems they see in the world around them. This year's theme focuses on the 1.4 million wearable school uniforms discarded each year, equating to 350 tonnes of textile waste!

We often hear that young people are the future and hold the solutions required to tackle the crises of today. But how can young people live with this expectation if we don’t first support and empower them, and give them the resources and community needed to rise to this challenge? This campaign will enable our Earth Day Heroes to receive free materials, workshops, mentoring and support such as micro-grants, which will enable them to turn their solutions into long-term projects.
