Rebuilding a life after prison isn’t easy. The steps people take to create stability are hard-won and fragile. The key to lasting change is individual support through trusting and reliable relationships. With your help, StandOut will empower more people leaving prison to realise their potential.

Almost half of people leaving prison will be back within a year. Having a job and settled accommodation increases people’s chance of success. Only 18% of London prison leavers are employed within six months of release and 1 in 2 are homeless. People who want to make a fresh start after prison are held back by not having the confidence, skills or connections to make it a reality. Without the right support, people leaving prison can’t move forward with their lives and make positive choices.

StandOut’s programme starts in prison with coaching and practical support and continues after release, bridging the transition from prison towards building stability in the community. That journey is often complex, and so we offer individual support through relationships based on trust – for as long as someone needs. This person-centred approach means participants feel empowered to tell us what works and what doesn’t, ensuring our programme remains grounded in the realities of life after prison.
