Two million Londoners experience poor mental health each year, yet 1 in 5 don't know where to turn for help. Without the right support, mental health worsens, affecting people’s relationships, work, and daily lives. WCC receives regular enquiries from diverse adults on low incomes struggling with grief, trauma, depression, anxiety and overwhelming life changes, who can’t afford private counselling or find the short-term therapy or medication offered by the NHS insufficient for their recovery.
Our counselling is unique, not only are sessions subsidised to ensure those on the lowest of incomes can access support, but our diverse counsellors have lived experience of discrimination, disability, LGBTQ+ issues, meaning we can be there for people in their darkest hours. Embedded in the community, we offer longer-term therapy (up to 2 years) to address deep-rooted mental health challenges. Funding supports staffing, supervision and office costs, helping us support 200+ people a year.
