Our project empowers women, restores degraded land, and builds climate resilience. Through permaculture training for 30 participants, planting of a micro forest, 10,000 fruit, nut and native trees, and a community planting event, we strengthen livelihoods, food security, and environmental awareness

Rural Kenyan communities face linked challenges of land degradation, climate change, food insecurity, and limited livelihoods, especially for women. Deforestation and unsustainable farming have reduced soil fertility, tree cover, and resilience to drought. Women lack access to training, tools, and income opportunities. Reliance on seasonal crops increases hunger and vulnerability, while lack of environmental education and irregular rain hampers tree-planting initiatives' long-term impact.
We will solve the problem by empowering women and communities with practical training in permaculture and agroforestry, providing tools, seeds, and saplings to enable immediate action. A community-led planting of a micro forest of 2,000 trees will restore degraded land, boost biodiversity, and absorb carbon. The distribution of a further 8,000 fruit, nut and native trees will strengthen food security, incomes, environmental literacy, and long-term climate resilience.
