We’re improving habitat across the River Teme to support Atlantic salmon. By restoring rivers, planting trees, creating wetlands, improving access for salmon, and working with landowners, your donation will help build healthier river habitats where salmon and wildlife can thrive.

The River Teme is under pressure from historic river modification, loss of tree cover, overgrazed and eroding banks, siltation, rapid algal growth, and polluted water entering the river. Weirs across the catchment can also restrict salmon movement, limiting access to upstream habitat. These pressures reduce water quality and riparian habitat, making it harder for wildlife, including Atlantic salmon, to survive and thrive, and weakening the river’s ability to function as a healthy ecosystem.

Severn Rivers Trust will enhance habitat across the Teme catchment by restoring natural river processes in collaboration with landowners. Rewiggling channels, planting trees, restoring riparian habitats, and installing natural in-channel features will improve flow, shade, and habitat diversity for Atlantic salmon. We will continue to assess barriers to fish migration and monitor river condition and salmon numbers, supported by citizen science, to guide effective delivery over time.
