The UK is facing pressing biodiversity loss amid the worldwide climate change emergency, with 1 in 6 species at risk of being lost and important habitats in decline. Concurrently, people in the UK are experiencing worsening mental health & wellbeing, with 20% of adults and 25% of adolescents affected in 2023-4. Ashdown Forest is both an important landscape and a large open access area, and has a critical role in responding to both these challenges. We need help to protect it for the future.
Ashdown Forest is an internationally recognised site for protecting rare and threatened species and habitats, as well as a vital natural space for local people and visitors. In 2026, the Forest celebrates 100 years of Winnie-the-Pooh. We will use this unique opportunity to create a 100 Year Legacy Fund to support 4 key long-term programmes with the aim to sustain Ashdown Forest for future generations: • Conservation projects • Equipment & infrastructure • Landscape Strategy • Community programme
