In Africa 685m people lack access to grid supplied energy and this is predicted to reach over 960m by 2030. Climate change affects women and children acutely and communities living in rural poverty are prevented from controlling their own development by reliance on costly, environmentally harmful fossil fuels which negatively impact human health. Trapped in darkness, or using costly batteries or kerosene, community flourishing is curtailed; women and children face a bleak subsistence future.
Clean Power changes everything with the flick of a switch.By providing rural women with accessible training, we ensure that knowledge benefits communities for generations. BCI trains women as Solar Engineers, Educators and Entrepreneurs.Despite limited formal education our Solar Engineers spend 3 intensive months learning to build, install and maintain solar home lighting systems an equips them to fully solar electrify their communities, and to implement educational and economic uplift programs.
