Growing Green Communities connects Birmingham residents with local nature through creative activities, education and community projects. We build wellbeing, strengthen neighbourhood ties and empower people to care for their local environment.

Beneficiaries
Many Birmingham communities have limited access to safe, welcoming green spaces and opportunities to engage with nature. This contributes to poor mental wellbeing, social isolation and a lack of environmental awareness. Residents often feel disconnected from their local parks and have little opportunity to shape environmental projects. Without sustained support, community led action for nature struggles to grow and thrive.
ecobirmingham connects communities to nature through forest school for children, active travel sessions, creative workshops, wildlife walks, and community growing and cooking. We promote active travel to local green spaces, helping residents experience the outdoors safely and enjoyably. Cooking classes teach respect for homegrown food, while children and families gain hands-on skills and early engagement with nature, building confidence and a lifelong connection to their local environment.
