School holidays should be a time of joy, but when schools close, the safety net disappears. Parents in poverty face the anxieties of hunger and isolation for their children. We support families year-round and through the summer with food, activities, and a suite of wraparound advice services.

No child should grow up homeless. Yet for 3,900 children from Westminster, that’s the reality. When schools close for summer, hardships magnify. School meals disappear, days are lonelier, and costs skyrocket. Parents face impossible choices, between putting food on the table, paying basic utility bills, and providing enriching activities for their children. These are not just temporary struggles but rather part of longer-lasting hardship, damaging children’s health, education and potential.
The biggest predictor of adult homelessness is experiencing poverty as a child. We tackle homelessness at its root by supporting families year-round—with extra help in summer when pressure peaks. We provide practical support, from food assistance and safe spaces where children can play and feel secure, to trauma-informed advice on housing, welfare, immigration, employment and learning. We give families the chance to build stability, resilience and brighter futures for their children.
