An estimated 4.5 million tonnes of waste wood is generated in the UK each year from construction, demolition and across industrial, commercial and household sources. Wood is a valued material, extremely versatile, durable and renewable – provided tree replanting schemes are in place. Trees perform instrumental carbon absorption during their lifetimes and promote oxygen levels. Recycling wood not only helps to reduce harmful landfill waste; it also significantly reduces the need to fell trees.

We are a lead organisation in Abingdon addressing climate change by actively reclaiming wood from waste and inspiring learning about reuse and the circular economy. Recovered reclaim is retailed at The Wood Shop to trade and DIY customers looking for cheap second-hand wood – but also for a more sustainable lifestyle.   Our community organisation empowers people facing significant barriers to working, such as autism, OCD and ADHD, with life skills and sustainable employment.
