We are over halfway to our target after just one day, and honestly, we are blown away. Every £10 donation provides a Stay Fresh pack for a young person, giving them a bag stuffed full of essential hygiene items to help see them through the summer holidays. Hygiene is fundamental to a child's development and wellbeing, yet there are 4.5 million children in low-income UK families that can't afford basic hygiene essentials - 9 children in a class of 30. In May 2025, 69% of low income families reported going without essential items in order to make ends meet. The typical cost for parents during the summer holidays is £1,000 to £1,700 per child, a huge burden for families that are already struggling.
Beauty Banks fights the growing problem of hygiene poverty in the UK by providing essential toiletries to people in need. This campaign will support children in low-income families, so that they don’t have to live with the added burden of poor hygiene during the long school summer holidays. Working with schools and youth organisations, we’ll provide kits that contain essentials like body wash, SPF and toothbrushes, making good hygiene accessible, rather than an unaffordable luxury.
