Our current strategy sets out clear, measurable targets to improve the health of the River Dee: restoring 40km of riverbanks, fixing 120 pollution sources, improving 80 farmyards, and training 100 citizen scientists. This campaign is about completing what we set out to do.

The River Dee is an iconic and nationally important river, but it is in decline. Loss of habitat, excess nutrients, and sediment are having a cumulative impact on the river and its wildlife. Our current five-year strategy sets out clear, measurable targets to be delivered by 2027 to help reverse this decline. This funding campaign supports the final push to deliver that strategy, helping us achieve the ambitious targets we set and make a lasting improvement to the River Dee.
Our solution at Welsh Dee Trust to tackle the declining river is by setting clear measurable goals for tangible action to support the rivers recovery. Through our current strategy, Welsh Dee Trust is delivering targeted riverbank restoration, reducing pollution from farmyards and land drains, and building a network of trained citizen scientists to spot and report issues early. Our funding campaign supports the final push to complete this work and secure lasting improvements for the river.
