We’re restoring Dartmoor’s temperate rainforest and woodlands by reviving our river valleys. Volunteers help us kickstart natural growth across Dartmoor through the strategic re-introduction of trees. These river valley woodlands will support climate and nature, reduce flooding and capture carbon.

As one of the world's most nature-depleted nations, the UK has lost around 50% of its original biodiversity. The problem isn’t just that trees have been lost, but the impact of this on climate, nature and the natural landscape. Many Dartmoor woodlands and temperate rainforest are ageing without young growth to replace them; without human intervention to plant the next generation, these habitats and the wildlife they support will be lost forever. We must act before it's too late.

Dartmoor’s woodlands are under threat. We are supporting their recovery through reintroducing vital seed sources and young trees back into the landscape to support enhanced natural regeneration. Moor Trees specialises in gathering seeds from local woodlands, so our trees are adapted to the Dartmoor landscape. Our dedicated volunteers help us strategically plant trees to ensure maximum survival rates and positive impact for climate and nature.
