Sheffield and Rotherham’s rivers are in poor health. Pollution, habitat loss and weak protection mean wildlife is disappearing and rivers can’t do their job. With your support, we can restore healthy waterways for nature, people and climate resilience.

Our local rivers and wetlands are failing. Of 18 local river stretches, only three are in good ecological health and none pass chemical pollution tests. 90% of our wetland habitats have been lost in the last 100 years. Habitat loss, climate change, sewage, runoff and poor regulation have driven wildlife declines and reduced our rivers’ ability to clean water, manage flood events and support communities.

We will campaign and act to restore rivers at a catchment scale. This means tackling pollution, opposing damaging development, restoring habitats, embedding river health into planning, and empowering communities through citizen science. Together, we can put rivers on the path to good ecological health by 2030.
