This iconic landscape spanning the Oxfordshire-Buckinghamshire border is under huge pressure. BBOWT is delivering a landscape scale nature, community and heritage programme. We need 10% match funding of the £4.1m project cost for an application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund to be successful.

The BOR landscape is under strain from the climate, nature, and cost-of-living crises. It is also the first segment of the Ox-Cam Growth Corridor, which adds huge development pressure. Bisected by HS2, East West Rail, the M40, and bracketed by the urban areas of Oxford, Bicester, and Aylesbury, the area is being developed, polluted, and intensively farmed. Nature clings to small pockets of wild space. People have no connection to urban greenspace and the countryside that once sustained them.
BBOWT is working with 11 partners to deliver RBOR, a landscape-scale programme to connect nature, people and heritage and leave the landscape flourishing for future generations. We will create and restore habitats on farmland, increase access greenspace, and design programming around citizen science, activism, storytelling, and crafts. Underlying this, we will develop a strong network of partners and stakeholders to continue to care for the landscape, outliving short-term project-based funding.
