shiftED is a charity that empowers young people through design and making, building creativity, skills, confidence and future opportunities. We are pioneering a shift in education with hands-on, project-based learning in the community at our Makerspace in Holborn Library.

shiftED tackles the decline in arts and design education, limited access to creative opportunities, and a lack of inclusive spaces for young people. We provide hands-on, project-based learning that develops creativity, problem-solving, wellbeing, and real-world skills, while supporting equitable access to the arts and pathways into the creative industries for children from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.

We address the problem through three pillars: Access and Inclusion, opening doors to design education and creative careers; Creativity and Real-World Skills, project-based learning that develops imagination and problem-solving; and Community and Wellbeing, building confidence, resilience and belonging. We deliver school projects, tailored small-group sessions, after-school programmes and CPD and training for teachers and artists.
