Creative Career Pathways supports disadvantaged, working class young people in Stoke on Trent to access arts and creative careers. It promotes diversity, equity and social mobility through skills development, mentoring and paid opportunities, creating fairer routes into the creative industries.

Stoke-on-Trent is one of the most disadvantaged cities in England; over half of residents live in the UK's most deprived neighbourhoods, child poverty has risen to 35.3%. This affects who can build a creative life. Many working-class creatives quit early. Meanwhile the creative industries are the fastest growing sector in the UK. The Stoke Creates Exchange Forum, a vital first step,where creatives connect to peers, to training & to paid work, seems inaccessible to young working class creatives.
We will engage 18-30 year olds across the city through outreach forums and a roadshow. The roadshow will be co-created and led by trained Arts Guides; young creatives with lived experience of overcoming barriers to work in the arts. The Arts Guides share knowledge and help people navigate opportunities - attending central SCEF events and training. This creates fairer pathways into the creative sector, especially for 18–30 year olds who lack the connections needed to develop careers in the arts
