In March 2024 there was a record high of 1,156 children in care in Stoke-on-Trent. Relative to population, this is more than any other English local authority. Children and young people who have experience of the care system can experience more challenges with their mental health and social isolation, especially during their teenage years when they are facing the educational and emotional changes experienced by all teenagers.

Clay Together will deliver activities in a safe, welcoming and supportive way at BCB's Studio in Stoke town. Young people will have the opportunity to gain new skills, build confidence and socialise with others with similar experiences. The young people taking part will be able to shape the direction of the activities and work in collaborative ways to help them foster skills to communicate their interests, develop leadership skills, and provide creative challenges in a supportive environment.
