West Toba’s rainforests are shrinking and becoming disconnected, leaving orangutans and other wildlife isolated. Working hand-in-hand with local communities, we protect and reconnect forests -giving orangutans space to roam, their habitat the chance to flourish, and people a future alongside nature.

The West Toba landscape is a stronghold for Sumatran orangutans, but its forests are being broken into isolated patches by roads, farmland and other developments. As connections disappear, wildlife populations shrink, ecosystems weaken, and forests become more vulnerable. Without urgent action, these forests could become disconnected, threatening the long-term survival of the wild orangutan population - and of the whole landscape.
We take a science-led, community-centred ‘eyes in the sky, boots on the ground’ approach. Camera traps, drones and field surveys reveal where forests and orangutans need help most. Working hand-in-hand with local partners and forest-edge communities, we keep the orangutans' forest home protected and connected through forest corridors, wildlife bridges, forest patrols and strengthening stewardship.
