Support young people in receiving a creative education in Hull. Your backing will enable the delivery a programme of Local Youth Theatre by Hull Truck Theatre, providing after school clubs to children in two Hull Primary Schools within the city’s most deprived areas to learn, create and have fun.

There is a clear inequality in cultural experiences for children educated and living in areas of high deprivation. Hull is the 4th most deprived city in England, where financial pressures and limited opportunities affect many of the families we will reach. The number of drama teachers is falling nationally, and the Humber is the lowest region submitting people for creative GCSEs. We want to bring free after-school drama classes into Primary Schools to bring equity to arts education in schools.

Reaching children in Primary Schools will give them the opportunity to reach their potential and find their voice at an early age. Combating the risk of poor development and anti-social behaviour rife in areas of high deprivation, we will engage young people without them having to seek us out. We hope to spark their confidence and creativity, enrich their lives, and help children connect by having fun taking part in meaningful creative activity, regardless of their financial circumstances.
