Weekly visits to paediatric wards bring light, laughter and music to young patients, their siblings and families. From a short stay of a few hours to weeks on end, our bespoke interactive sessions provide comfort and connection for patients and respite for families through the power of music.

Young patients on paediatric wards—whether short-stay or long-term—often experience isolation, boredom, confusion, frustration and anxiety about their condition. Clinical environments and medical needs limit access to everyday activities and peer interaction, leaving contact largely restricted to medical staff and family. This can negatively affect emotional wellbeing as children whilst parents can struggle with the pressures of looking after a sick child along with other siblings.
RSF partners with Chelsea & Westminster Health Charity (CW+) and Imperial Health Charity to deliver inclusive musical projects on paediatric wards. Weekly 2-hour sessions combine group workshops in play spaces with individual bedside visits for children unable to join groups. These activities create a positive, shared experience that builds community on the wards, supports emotional wellbeing, and creates a happier, calmer environment for young patients and their families.
