Big tech and AI are harming society and our planet. Behind every chatbot, deep fake and nudified teen photo are energy & water-guzzling datacentres driving climate harm and sidelining local voices. #StopDirtyDataCentres helps communities to challenge Big Tech locally and demand limits on AI growth.

The rapid spread of colossal AI data centres is driving major environmental harm, consuming huge amounts of energy & water across our countryside. Local rejections of these datacentres are routinely overturned, sidelining community voices. This infrastructure growth is fuelling Big Tech power and the wealth of a few whilst depriving hundreds of communities of natural resources and fuelling a plethora online harm. This unchecked growth must be challenged before it’s too late.
Our #StopDirtyDataCentres campaign aims to challenge the unchecked rollout of Big Tech data centres that run against local interests & to force a public debate about their real value to society. We put communities at the centre of decision-making, supporting local groups to expose the enormous climate & water impacts hidden behind misleading planning claims, and to resist developments imposed without consent, in the face of intense Big Tech lobbying.
