Koalas are threatened by climate change, habitat loss and wildfires. At AWC’s Waulinbakh Wildlife Sanctuary, we protect critical forest habitat and use science-led conservation to tackle these threats. Donations deliver real impact to this frontline conservation. Please help Koalas by giving today.

Without urgent action, Koalas in New South Wales (NSW) could be extinct by 2050, according to a 2020 Legislative Council inquiry into NSW populations. Habitat loss and fragmentation, climate change, and increasingly severe bushfires are all driving the decline of this iconic species. Frontline conservation work to restore, regenerate and conserve habitat is essential to protect and support healthy Koala populations into the future.
In 2022, Australian Wildlife Conservancy acquired Waulinbakh Wildlife Sanctuary, a native forest wildlife corridor recognised for its importance to Koala populations in NSW. At this 3,970-hectare sanctuary, generous donations (driven in part by Big Give Campaigns) have provided critical funding for ecological monitoring, habitat protection, and conservation land management. With your support, AWC can continue this vital work to deliver lasting impact for Koalas and other threatened species.
