Our award-winning property at Glenlude is an important hub for conservation, volunteering, restoration, and diverse wildlife. Originally a sheep farm and conifer plantation, we engage with volunteers to restore the 149-hectare site on the edge of the Southern Uplands to a mosaic of native habitats.

Our aim at Glenlude is to demonstrate exemplary land management in the community. We set out to engage with people from all walks of life, especially those who have limited access to wild places. Methodically we replace the commercial forestry with native broadleaf woodlands and create a mosaic of habitats across the site. The trees planted are grown from seed collected locally and grown on site in our tree nursery. We want to make the process of caring for Glenlude completely inclusive for all.
The Gathering Shelter will be a new purpose-built space on site. This will increase our capacity to offer year-round opportunities to individuals, volunteers, groups and schools, with the hope to increase access to nature, outdoor learning, volunteering and training. We also intend to upgrade and widen paths to accommodate wheelchairs and then extend it into our tree nursery, around the proposed raised beds and onto the Gathering Shelter creating an extended accessible multi-purpose area.
