We’re fundraising to deliver nature-based solutions and conservation work to future-proof the Commons in the face of hotter summers and wetter winters. Your support can help protect and restore the Commons’ habitats including rare heathland and peatland.

Wimbledon and Putney Commons include heathland, grassland, woodlands, wetlands and some London’s last remaining peat bogs which are regionally important for their rare mire habitat and botanical species. But these habitats face threats from invasive species, visitor pressure, and climate change. It is vital that we future proof the landscape and protect these rare habitats before they are lost. Conserving them requires specialist skills, equipment, and resources beyond our core budget.
Funding will accelerate efforts to protect and restore our Commons, evolving their habitats as they face climate change. We’ve developed a 10-year Land Management Plan which sets out the actions needed to restore habitats, improve climate resilience, and balance conservation with public access. Your support will help deliver these plans such as removing invasive species, reintroducing lost plants, meadow management and undertaking hydrological works to retain water in the habitats that need it.
