We are raising funds to support drama-based workshops for people with lived experience of multiple disadvantage. The goal of these workshops is to improve the confidence and skills of participants in co-creating and co-leading a series of creative training events for social care professionals.

People experiencing multiple disadvantage frequently struggle to cope with systems designed around efficiency rather than individual need. They face long waits, fragmented services, rigid procedures and assessment processes that don’t recognise their circumstances. This carries a high cost: individuals experience prolonged hardship and declining wellbeing, while society absorbs the wider consequences through increased demand on health, housing and criminal justice services.

Building on a recent pilot programme with Expert Citizens CIC, Rideout will run a series of drama-based workshops with people with lived experience of multiple disadvantage to co-create and co-deliver a programme of training events for social care professesionals that draw directly on participants' previous experiences. The events are designed to both raise awareness of the experiences of those involved as well as explore ways of addressing problems through attitudinal and procedural change.
