Too many children in our community grow up without access to music because of disadvantage, limiting the confidence, wellbeing and future possibilities that meaningful arts participation provides. -Neighbourhoods around our academy fall within the lowest 20 to 30 percent for child deprivation nationally. -Children from low-income families are least likely to learn an instrument (ABRSM 2025). -Many WHB students face caring responsibilities, trauma or instability.

We level the playing field by removing barriers to music education for disadvantaged children: -Free tuition and instrument for more than half of our 400 students. -Trauma informed pastoral care from staff experienced with vulnerable children. -High quality music tuition from professional musicians. - A ‘second home’ where children are known and valued. - Social levelling, with children from different backgrounds learning and creating together.
