Our work covers the urgent need for nature recovery and a dramatic cut in carbon emissions in light of the climate and ecological emergency. Climate change is already affecting our natural environment with dramatic losses in invertebrates, poor water quality and rapid habitat change. There is an increasing lack of faith and understanding in processes like Net Zero which set out to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Climate anxiety increases feelings of disempowerment and inertia.

Dorset CAN aims to encourage action to tackle the biodiversity and climate crisis. It acts as an incubator of good ideas, supports a network of community activists and sows the seeds of change by offering mentoring and learning opportunities. It supports collective action to reduce carbon emissions and boost nature’s recovery. Our flagship projects - the Great Big Dorset Hedge and Greener Homes - showcase practical examples of action which can be replicated.
