The waters of Galapagos are vital for oceanic manta rays, offering a safe haven for these gentle giants. Sadly, news has reached us of rays being hit by boats, injuring or killing these defenceless creatures. Help us save manta rays by creating a tourism industry that protects vulnerable wildlife.

The Galapagos Islands and the surrounding marine reserve are a vital refuge for a unique population of manta rays, but scientists looking to learn more about these graceful creatures are uncovering shocking evidence that off Isabela, an island in Galapagos, rays are being accidentally struck by boats, including those taking tourists to and from the island - an alarming consequence of a growing tourism industry, which is creating challenges for wildlife across the Archipelago.

We are supporting the research needed to protect oceanic manta rays in Galapagos and ensure a safe future for this species, while collaborating with the Isabela community to integrate conservation practices into local tourism, fostering champions for marine conservation. We are bringing together partners across the tourism industry to address the issues caused by the rise in tourism and develop a model that protects wildlife while supporting the economic and social needs of communities.
