Singing Medicine addresses the emotional and psychological isolation often experienced in hospitals. Clinical environments can be stressful, impersonal and overwhelming for children and their families; this project reintroduces human connection through singing play. Children can experience anxiety and confusion, especially when separated from familiar routines, home and people they love. They struggle to understand procedures, feel a loss of control, experience boredom and distress.

Singing Medicine responds by meeting children at an emotional level rather than a clinical one. Gentle, responsive singing play creates familiarity and trust, playfulness and calm. It restores a sense of control and connection, reduces anxiety. We will provide this on Mondays and Fridays throughout the year in partnership with the Birmingham Children's Hospital charity. Singing play also creates a shared emotional language.
