Help make Catcott Nature Reserve bigger, better, and wilder! Your support will connect vital habitats, protect rare wildlife like lapwing, snipe and otter, and create a more accessible place for everyone to discover Somerset’s spectacular wetlands. Together, we can help nature – and people – thrive.

Our native wildlife faces growing pressure from habitat loss and fragmentation. Separated wetland areas restrict movement, breeding, feeding opportunities and resilience against climate change for many rare and vulnerable species. At Catcott Nature Reserve, ageing paths and hides also limit people’s access to nature, especially those with limited mobility. This project reconnects habitats, revitalises wetlands, and improves access, ensuring Catcott thrives for wildlife and people alike.
We’ll reconnect Catcott’s fragmented habitats by acquiring a six-hectare field to link key areas of wetland and create vital wildlife corridors. Expanding the scrape (a manmade shallow lake supporting a variety of species) will provide richer feeding and breeding grounds for waders and waterfowl. Replacing the ageing bird hide and improving paths and bridges will open the reserve to all, ensuring Catcott remains a thriving, resilient haven for both wildlife and people.
