Rural communities in Babati, northern Tanzania, face severe land degradation caused by deforestation, poor farming practices, and overgrazing. Soil erosion, declining fertility, and reduced yields are increasing food and income insecurity, trapping families in poverty and weakening resilience to climate change.

Working with male and female youths we will train and support them to establish a tree and grass nursery on land already provided by the community for this purpose. As the trees and grasses mature we, together with the Town and Ward Agricultural Officers, will train local farmers in contour farming, soil conservation, and sustainable land management. By providing planting materials, skills, and community outreach, the project supports long-term ecological restoration and improved livelihoods.
