The River Evenlode is in a dire state. Sewage pollution and manmade modifications devastate wildlife and impede natural river processes. The Evenlode Catchment Partnership (ECP) is a dynamic collaboration working to return the Evenlode to good ecological status for the benefit of people and nature.

River Evenlode is one of a whopping 86% of UK rivers that do not achieve good ecological status. Pollution from sewage and agricultural runoff has severe effects on water quality, causing devastating harm to local wildlife and biodiversity. Manmade modifications have disconnected the river from its floodplain so that it cannot move naturally within the valley. This degrades river habitats and exacerbates flooding downstream. Our work identifies these problems and helps redress the balance.
The ECP has a comprehensive programme of works, dedicated to improving water quality, enriching biodiversity, and managing flood risks while increasing climate resilience across the Evenlode catchment area. Our work involves citizen scientists in monitoring the river environment and campaigning for change. We work with landowners to deliver river restoration and wetland projects, with communities to deliver natural flood management and to engage locally with our many inspirational projects.
